Drivers’ School Scholarship

Racing Drivers Club
Will Pool Memorial Driver’s School Scholarship
Application for 2016

Each spring, the RDC sponsors one or more deserving members of the San Francisco Region to the Region’s Competition Driver’s Licensing School. The scholarship is awarded based on service to the Region, and may be given to any Region member actively volunteering in either a Club Racing Specialty or the Autocross Program.

The scholarship pays full tuition, the cost of a racecar rental, fuel, tires and support during the school.  Scholarship winners need only arrange for their own personal safety gear (driver’s suit, helmet, gloves, shoes, etc), lodging and meals while at the three-day school.  They will need to complete their own entry application and medical exam and forms.  They are also responsible for any damage to the racecar during the school.  Upon successful completion of the school, the recipients will possess a Novice Competition Permit, which is valid for two years making them eligible to compete in any SCCA Regional Club Racing event.  By completing two Regional Races the Novice Permit may be upgraded to a Regional Competition License.  Completing the requirements for a competition license is not a requirement for the scholarship.

Application Deadline:  Applications must be postmarked, e-mailed or faxed no later than December 1, 2015.  The recipient will be notified and posted on the RDC website by the end of January.

Application:  Please submit a single page descriptive of how you have supported the SFR Club Racing or Autocross Programs, what you expect to gain from completing the school and how that will help you support the region in the future.  You may want to include what Crews you have worked on and for how long.  Feel free to add any other comments you feel the RDC Board may like to know when reviewing this application.  Please include your name, mailing address, e-mail address and a phone number.
