Finally, it is official! Lots of behind-the-scenes effort have gone into this to maintain the quality of our Region program but the San Francisco Region has decades of background and experience  hosting large scale events at Laguna. This will be the best organized Runoffs ever! 2014 will be a good year to be a member of the San Francisco Region.

The official 2013 RDC Enduro Supplementary Rules and event information are now up and posted at the tabs in the left column. Your biggest track time bang for the buck, this year we have a tag team format so you do not have to share cars, and we will be running the Thunderhill by-pass!

Thanks to Gary, we now have a revised Points Structure for RDC Members for 2013. First, only San Francisco Regional races are RDC points races.  A driver must be a member of RDC prior to the end of the race weekend to be scored for that event.  RDC Membership submitted and paid for prior to the end of a race weekend will be accepted for scoring in that event.  All races entered during the year are counted, there are no dropped events.

Here is how points will shake out in the coming year:

Don’t forget your RDC points count starts with the first event and this year’s Thunderhill Season Opener is a Rational. If you join during the weekend, you points will count towards the 2013 season.

All at once, the hardest but most fun decision of the year (next to selecting Scholarship Recipient) is the RDC Annual Awards, but here they are and congratulations to them all:

The Most Improved Driver goes to Jonathon Allen in his Spec Racer Ford #40 for measured improvement over the year and that epic battle at the Laguna final Regional.

For Racing Good Guy or Gal, this years award goes to Gary Corsiglia for volunteering to step up and take over RDC points scoring and tabulation. And Gary has just been made the newest member of the RDC Board.

For the RDC Worker Performance Award, Marcy Crawford is this years winner for all of her work jumping in and helping to get the RDC Enduro up and running with some semblance of order, and then staffing the event until the final flag.

And finally, for this years RDC Presidents Award, RDC President Fred Peterson  and the Board selected  Sheryl Streets for all of the help and kindness she displayed for the months following Fred’s Thunderhill turn 2 incident, arranging for his car to be transported and helping his wife Jinny and the family get through the recovery.

Once again a tough choice, but the RDC is pleased to award this years drivers School Scholarship to our long suffering Tech Chief, Allen Davis. Congratulations Allen, and watch for those blue flags. We’ve just opened up the Will Pool Memorial scholarship for the 2013 Drivers School for applications, and this years deadline to apply is December 1st. Check out the tab at left for information on what the RDC looks for as we read each application, as well as how to apply. As with last year, we can only offer one slot and we know many long time and worthy contributors will apply. Best of luck.
